ROH ROUND ROBIN CHALLENGE III 05/15/04
Homicide vs. Spanky
Homicide isn't the most compelling guy to watch do a dominant match like this, as while most of his work is really solid, it isn't the most interesting or truly grabbing stuff. It's still a good match though, as he does indeed perform his role in very solid fashion, Spanky rocks the plucky underdog role well & I can always appreciate a well executed gameplan in my rasslin, which is something this match did offer w/ Homicide having a focus on Spanky's neck, softening him up for all of his big signature moves. ***
CM Punk & Colt Cabana vs. Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe
Not as great as their previous meeting, but still a really awesome match in its own right. This had almost the same lay-out on paper as that said previous match of theirs @ Reborn: Stage Two, but with the teams assuming different roles & putting some new touches into things. I thought the highlight of the entire match was pretty easily the Mark FIP segment with him selling well & The Saints doing a real lovely, focused number on his banged up ribs. ***1/2
